Cautiously, once again you approach the stone sarcophagus. Ready for anything, you throw off the lid—it thuds to the floor. In the coffin is a skeleton with a silver stake thrust through the ribs just over the location of the heart. On the bony finger of the left hand is a ring set with a ruby carved in the shape of a devil's head. There appears to be a box of some kind underneath the bones.

You have several choices. You can:
remove the silver stake
take the ruby ring
try to get a closer look at the mysterious box, or
if you want no part of any of this, retreat to the intersection.
